REVIVAL Music Group (RMG) is "Music with a Mission" and comprised of REVIVAL Music Publishing, REVIVAL Music Records, and REVIVAL Music Collective. At RMG, we believe that God is initiating a mighty work of revival and is stirring hearts through a "reawakening" of a hunger for intimacy with Him that includes the use of Christian/ Gospel music.
RMG is on a mission and believes local revival will spread to global revival, and we are excited to cooperate and unite with other believers to follow in His lead. The heart of revival begins in the heart, and what better way to stir the heart than with the music of His heart? Worship music has a unique manner of penetrating our hearts and stirring us to our core by drawing us into the Presence of God.
RMG is on a mission and believes the flames of revival will be widespread and increase dramatically beginning with individual hearts and then extending throughout the corporate body of Christ. This wildfire will be without walls, without barriers, without denominations – all unified in Jesus Christ.
1) When did your love of music begin?
My love of music began very early. Even as a baby, my mom quickly learned that music soothed me and would stop my crying. From the time I was very young, I would go to sleep with the radio on, listening to Christian music until I fell asleep. I also loved singing and joined the church and school choirs as a young child. I can't remember a time when music hasn't been a part of who I am
2) Who or what was your inspiration to create music?
It was definitely a "Who"! The Lord is my total inspiration to create music. I call these songs the "music of His heart" because He is the inspiration and creativity behind each and every one. Truthfully, I would never have been inspired to create music unless the Lord called me to do it, and I would never want to create any music except unto the Lord. I guess to paraphrase a classic hit, "(He's) the meaning in my life; (He's) the inspiration"!
3) What differentiates your music from other music?
I call these songs "the music of His heart" because I simply act as the pen, and the Holy Spirit is the Author. Each song represents a unique "download" that I have received from Him. Because of this, there is such a variety in the styles and themes. Also, many songs are written from His perspective, which is uncommon even in praise and worship songs. This music is all about the Lord. I have no other aim, no other desire than to give God glory and share the saving grace of Jesus Christ with others. Through opening up about the trials that I have faced and the mistakes that I have made, I want others to get a glimpse of God's goodness and grace. Jesus Christ has literally met me at the point of my pain and despair every single time. I want this music to be used to bring the prodigals home, to set the captives free, and to bring the lost to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. I want this music to be like "coming home" for people and to offer them comfort and encouragement
4) What have been the biggest challenges that you have faced in your pursuit of music?
The biggest challenge that I have faced is me! All the baggage and wounds I initially carried with me as I began writing this music felt like an albatross! It created a lot of doubt, insecurities, and retriggered places of trauma in my life. Truthfully, it has been brutal. But through this process, I have learned first-hand the faithfulness of my God. He truly has used all of these things for my good and has used them to inspire this "music of His heart". These areas of raw pain added an edge and vulnerability to this music that you don't often hear. As He has healed these areas of injury and trauma in my life, the songs serve as my personal testimony of His goodness. I serve as a witness in sharing His message of hope and healing through these songs.
5) What are some of the most important lessons that you have learned in pursuing music?
The most important lesson I have learned in the pursuit of music is that my priority MUST BE the pursuit of God. The pursuit of music must occur as a result of my pursuit of His Presence. This truth applies to any calling God has on our lives. Every other pursuit must take a back seat to our pursuit of Him. This requires a lot of brutal honesty and constant "come to Jesus" moments. I have spent many hours on my knees before God, seeking His face and His will regarding this music. If He had not given me the green light to keep going, I would never have continued. I serve "at the pleasure of the King", so as long as He wills it, I will press on
6) What is one message you would like to give your fans?
You are never beyond repair. God is so much bigger than your past...so much bigger than your sin. I attempted suicide multiple times because I believed that my garbage meant I was garbage. We all have trash in our past, but that does not make us trash...so toss the trash!
We all have a history that we can make
"His story" (history)...His story (history) of grace in our lives, His story (history) of forgiveness...make your history "His story" in your life, and let it serve as a testimony to others of His work in your life
7) What's next for you?
"...I will sing and make music [to the Lord] with all my soul." Psalm - 108:1b
